A Love Affair with God – Part 5 by Kurt Steele

We dive into the Lord’s Pattern of Prayer again. This pattern gets better and better as we go! BUT you must press into this for yourself. This cannot stay head knowledge. You must EXPERIENCE it through actually praying. STOP! Pray NOW! Pray through Part 1-4!

How did the prayer time GO?

I pray that your heart is igniting and your heart begins to blaze with the FIRST commandment. Did you experience how the pattern of prayer ignites your soul? Did you sense God’s power and presence? Even if you did not feel it, practice it and watch how He will begin to show up!

We now come to the next phrase: “Give us this day our daily bread”. In the same chapter with the Lord’s Pattern of Prayer, we see the truth of Matthew 6:25-33 leap from the pages of the Word. Don’t worry, but instead seek first the kingdom of God first and God will meet your needs. Jesus tells us to pray that God will give us the bread for our body daily. First, we observe this phrase, “this day”. Give us God today; we must not worry about tomorrow, but TODAY! Second, we see the words, “Give us”. These words point to a generous and giving God. This time in prayer is to bring our daily needs. I always start with the words of Christ, “Man (I) shall not live by bread alone but by the words that proceed from the mouth of God.” I always start with the truth that God provides my spiritual manna or food first! Then I bring my physical needs to Him. This way follows the Matthew 6:33 order and I believe is biblical.

Come to your Father and tell Him what you needs and desires are. Cast all your cares on Him, realizing that He cares for YOU! This is a time of humility, surrender, and submission. First, this type of prayer is humbling yourself before an all powerful God and say, “I am needy, please provide and I acknowledge that it is You and You alone that provides for my needs.” With the economic crisis at hand in the world and the rising costs of energy and the volatile markets, we must bow our knees before a sovereign KING! I believe this crisis is going to force us all to our knees before our Father. I do not think this is bad, but God’s design for dependence. Let us bow our knees and say:

Then the LORD appeared to Solomon at night and said to him, "I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. "If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
(2Ch 7:12-14)

I venture out into a prophetic word right now because I see that God is causing the “locusts” to devour the land (gas, famine, disasters, etc.) to get the attention of His people to humble themselves. America has become so arrogant in its own greatness that I believe that many have forgotten who gives the blessing. I am calling the “remnant” right now in the name of Jesus to rise up and fall down, repent, confess, acknowledge the Uncreated One and His power alone and seek His face! What is the promise? HEALING!!! Healing of every kind of sin and strongholds, healing of every kind of sickness, healing of churches, healing of economic crisis, healing of relationships, and much more. There is healing in the name of Jehovah Rapha.

Second, this type of prayer is surrender. Once we have humbled ourselves and submit our needs, we must leave it at the throne of grace. This is surrender. We must let go of worries and leave them all at the cross. As we see the ALL SUFFICIENT, UNCREATED ONE, we let go. This principle is not simple but profound in building intimacy. God gave me an illustration of the story where the Lord declared His name, Jehovah Jireh. This story is the story of Abraham. Can you imagine what was going through the father, Abraham when God told him to sacrifice his promised son on the altar? As he rose in the morning, get the vivid picture in your mind. He wakes his son. What is he thinking? Can you imagine? “Son, we have to get up and go…” Can you fill in the script? “Why daddy?” What does he answer? Think and meditate on the surrender that had to be going on in the war of Abraham’s spirit. How about the walk? What does he say? What would YOU say? I can just imagine. How about the question from Isaac, “What will we sacrifice?” Read the answer in Genesis 22:8, “Abraham said, ‘God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.’ So the two of them walked on together.” Are you kidding me? THIS IS SURRENDER! Now let the next verse penetrate your heart, “Then they came to the place of which God had told him; and Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood, and bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood.” Can you imagine the tears in Abraham’s eyes? Think of the trust that Isaac has and his surrender. He is not fighting. AND then in the 11th hour, God provides a sacrifice. Jehovah Jireh provides a ram in the thicket! The angel of the Lord steps in and stops Abraham and God provides. Can Jehovah Jireh supply your daily bread? Will you step into this type of faith? Will you surrender all NOW?

Finally, this type of prayer is submission. Submission to the will of God is key to the power and glory of God. This is breakthrough with God. God, please break us free from our stubborn hearts and may we experience the power and fire of your glory in our lives. We submit to You Lord. Break us free what holds us back from submission. Release it Lord, NOW!!! I am experiencing God as I write this article. I sense a release of God inside of my heart. Please enter with me. Allow God’s power to flow. Give the readers of this article power, light, freedom, zeal, strength, and glory!!
